3. Cancellations by Scot Walks
Scot Walks reserves the right to cancel or vary tours at our own discretion. Should a tour be cancelled by Scot Walks then we will inform you immediately and full refunds or offer of an alternative holiday for the same value will be given, however we shall not be held responsible for any costs incurred by you or monies lost as the result of cancellation and you are therefore advised to take out appropriate holiday insurance.
4. Insurance
We strongly recommend that you take out insurance for the duration of your trip to cover cancellation, injury, death, loss or damage to personal belongings and liability to third parties.
5. Grade
Our walking holidays are fairly moderate and include a mixture of longer lower level walks and up to 500 m mountain / hill ascents. Previous hill walking experience is not necessarily required; however you should be reasonably fit and enjoy some form of regular exercise. Walking times each day range from 5 – 9 hours with daily average distance covered of around 20 km. Terrain is variable, generally good paths but rough or rugged ground can also be expected.
6. Safety
Being on foot in a remote and / or rugged country is potentially hazardous by its nature and participants must accept a certain element of risk. In the interest of safety, you must agree to abide by the decisions of your guide. As we have no control over weather conditions, we reserve the right to alter routes accordingly. People whose fitness or ability is clearly at variance with that required for the grade of the holiday may be asked to make alternative arrangements (at their own expense) in order to allow the programme to proceed as planned. Please let us know, in confidence, of any conditions from which you suffer which may affect your safety in remote areas. These include vertigo and diabetes. Please consult your doctor if in any doubt.
7. Liability
Scot Walks will not be liable for any injury, loss, damage or expense resulting from force majeure or any unforseen circumstance beyond our control. We will only be liable for loss or damage caused by our negligence or by that of someone employed by us.
